Four Shinto shrines in Kochi City

Kochi University Jingu Shrine

[Address] 2-7-2, Obiyamachi, Kochi-shi
[God of God] Emperor Amaterasu
After the Meiji Restoration, the government issued a policy of "Daikyonobu", and activities that value Jingu Shrine were organized nationwide. In 1878, with the permission of the Jingu Shrine, the construction of a temple to welcome the spirit of Jingu began at this shrine. We headed to Ise to welcome the spirits, and a ceremony of the spirits was held at the first gate of Naiku, and God was enshrined here. This shrine has been revered as the center of Ise worship in Kochi Prefecture and has continued to this day.

It is a shrine near Hirome Market. There is no parking lot, so please use the nearest coin parking etc.

Tosa Shrine

[Address] 2-16-1, Ikkushinane, Kouchi-shi
[God of God] Ajime Takako Hikone God One Word Lord God
At the beginning of the Kamakura period, the Shinto-Buddhist practice period was entered, and this was the Tosa Kuniso guardian Ichinomiya.

It is a shrine that is known as "Shinane-sama" by people in Kochi. There is a parking lot, but it is quite crowded during the New Year's visit. A temporary parking lot will be set up, so please check the official website for details.

Wakamiya Hachimangu Shrine

In addition, praying for the happiness of his grandfather, Tameyoshi Minamotono, and wishing for the prosperity of Genji, the spirit of Ishimizu Hachimangu Shrine was invited to the site of Yoshii's mansion in Rokujo, Kyoto, and the new building was Rokujo Wakamiya Hachimangu Shrine.

If you go along the sea from the hotel, it is the nearest shrine. Recommended for sightseeing to Katsura-hama Beach. There is also a free parking lot.

Shioe Tenman-gu Shrine

Haruhiko Matsumoto, the servant of Michizane, came to this area to convey the kimono and swords of Michizane, who died in Dazaifu, to his eldest son, Asaomi Takami. It is said that Shioe Tenman-gu Shrine was derived from the fact that Asami Takami delivered the relics and worshiped them.

It is a distance that can be reached on foot from the center of Kochi City, and it is full of worshipers during the first visit. In the case of a car, please use the nearby parking lot.
